Let's have ourselves an open discussion: How do you really feel about File-Sharing, Cheaper CD's in U.S. stores and the widening of the JRock fanbase? Personally I think its a good thing. I honestly don't give a damn if they sell JRock in Hot Topic next to My Chemical Romance, or in Wal-Mart next to Garth Brooks. The only people that really seem butthurt by it are the stuck-up fans who're just upset at the idea of anyone not part of their clique having access to THEIR music. We seriously need to move past the attitude that "We hafta keep teh emoez from finding our stuff!" I see a great hypocrisy in fans who chastise others for downloading saying "You're not true fans!" yet would refuse to buy a $16 U.S. release of a JRock CD just because of what STORE its sold in. As if the $40 price tags at CDJapan are somehow the magical dividing line between "LAWNG TIEM HARDKORRRRE TRU-FANZ" and "FAEK EMO n00bz."
And who really gives a damn if the emo kids buy it anyway? Money from "n00bz" isn't any less green than money from someone who's been in the fandom 10 years. Its still financial support for the bands either way. Money they could use for more tours and more studio time for new material. I'm a downloader, its how I find out about the bands and decide which ones I like and which I don't, but I still try to buy albums when they're made available in stores I can actually get to at prices I can actually afford. I think what companies like JShock do is great, I just wish they would do it for more bands than just D'espairsRay and The Underneath. Cheap re-releases of albums, Live DVD's and PV DVD's are a gracious blessing to this fandom, and anyone who thinks otherwise oughta consider pulling their head out of their arse. If you disagree with any of the above, please try to produce valid arguments against it instead of the typical trawlin' that is rampant here... =P

Your argument is valid, but I personally don't give two s***s about either side seeing that the bulk of the music I like, both Japanese and otherwise, is either available in any major CD store or isn't available in any store.
I don't listen to the majority of 'Jrock' that companies like JRR are trying to bring over and sell here, unfortunately. I kind of wish they were picking up more artists I like, because it would be awesome not to pay $20 of shipping every time I wanted to buy some CDs. I think the type of kids that are getting upset about it are doing so because their VK is "special". These would be the same people who claim to be so open-minded for only listening to Japanese bands, and if it was available in America, it would not be so "special" anymore.

Thanks, I wasn't expecting much agreeance since afterall this is Batsu.
But yeah, if JShock could get ahold of some other bands besides D'espa
or Underneath and sell their stuff in U.S. stores that'd be great for the
rest of us who actually wanted cheaper stuff in the states. I was plenty
happy to pay the $19 for the Spiral Staircase DVD, if they'd sell DVD's
for other bands (like when is DeG ever gunna put out a DVD here? They
gotta have a crapload of footage from U.S. shows by now) it'd help the
fandom as well as help finance the bands by giving us more stuff to buy.

I just think they should stop specializing in VK bands (and also start targeting Canada, haha). There are other kinds of Japanese bands that would probably do well over here, as well as some artists that are already getting themselves over here without much support that they could help out.
And for the record, I think some people underestimate batsu. But then again, maybe you just posted on a good day.

My experiences with this place have usually been bad,
but perhaps I may've assumed a few bad apples were
representative of the attitudes of the whole board.

^Actually, those bad apples pretty much are representative of the board.
You're just in the section where people second guess trying to use their brains before they post.
If this was in another section, you'd be having a good 'ol time right about now.
Edit: I thought you posted this in caucus. nm. guess the tards are taking an off day.

I was one of the persons who were against selling j-rock related stuff, in a coutnry like mine. After a while, I really do not care about this, because the fangirls/fanboys will come even if the cds will not be sold here. I hate tho when every "old" fan who thinks he's a good one gets butthurt when seeing new fans and starts telling s*** to them. It's childish, everyone has the right to listen to new music.

if it's cheaper and easier for me to get, i like it.
i've never bought a CD online, i just download all my s*** via filesharing websites or, if i feel like it, buy a cheap US release.
honestly, i don't care.
i don't have the money to buy s*** online all the time. i think i've bought two physical items from the internet in my entire life.
plus more US attention = more concerts for me.
it all works out ~

They can sell in the US if they want, I'd prefer if they got there s*** into England though. It would be nice to not pay extra for shipping. I would buy a lot more s*** if it wasn't for shipping butthurt
Easiest option is to get their s*** really together and put everything onto the likes of itunes and napster. A lot of stuff isn't available for leagle download. The fact is that CDs are being used less and mp3 players are what's in. Welcome to the digital age, start putting stuff up for leagle download and everyone is happy. The industry has already lost loads of money acting slow on this.

I could see that working, though I hate iTunes because of that nasty DRM sh*t. But yeah, $10 / 99cents a track for an MP3 album on Amazon isn't really too much to ask, and if there were extras like a PDF of the lyric booklet translations and maybe some bonus PV's in MPEG or AVI format, that might actually work. Although I'm one of those people who likes holding a CD in my hand, obviously its more work for them to press albums, print cover art and liner notes and ship the sh*t to everyplace. And digital downloads are instantaneous, unlike waiting for something to show up in the mail.
