Can I ask something without de-railing the interesting soul talk? -- If God sees all, knows all, and controls everything. Could one perhaps say that he ALLOWED the snake / Devil into the Garden? I mean if God is 'omnipresent' and he is everywhere all the time, and knows everything, you'd think he would've stopped Satan from tempting his creations with the fruit, right? And why would he tell them they would surely die, even though they really wouldn't? Isn't that lying? Or maybe he meant a 'moral death.'

^ That's because God is an asshole and the snake is the good guy. I think the roles of "God" and "Satan" have been mixed. The snake gave us knowlidge and freedom. God was pissed off because of that and abandoned us. I think the snake created us and God took the credit for it. According to the oldest known creation story, (the sumerian one) we were created by a snake-like being called Enki. And since it's the oldest one, I think it's a lot more reliable than the Bible. I mean as reliable as a creation story can be.

This of course assuming God exists. I believe it's possible that we were created and if it's true, we were created by living mortal beings. Not an immortal thing that want's us to worship it. Life is a gift we didn't ask. No one can own us even if we were a creation of someone. That's why I think we shouldn't worship anyone.

@ Zalika - You're just putting religion and the supernatural on some honorary pedestal as if it has equal standing with science in logical thought and sound reason at all. That's you're prerogative if you want to see them as being able to compete, but you're simply giving into this nonsensical sensitivity that religion "deserves."

Some scientists believe we have a soul and they're making serious studies about it. Nothing supernatular. So the concept of a soul is not just a religious thing.

Yes, I definitely keep track on those articles and save them. I'll post some the next time I stumble across one because at the moment I don't care enough to search. And I just said people study it. Nothing about their results. And these studies have nothing to do with my beliefs in case you thought that.

Well, you sounded like it was a fact that soul is just supernatural, imaginary etc. and I said it's actually studied so it wasn't that irrelevant. It was a science news website. Don't remember it's name because I found the link from another website.

You get into this classic situation of semantics, where soul is used as a metaphor, but it's viewed completely separate from its traditional usage. It's like Einsteinian religion (the use of the word "god" as an all encompassing scientific idea, rather than any sort of deity).

How is so hard to understand that what I suggested had n o t h i n g to do with comparsion, competing or any type of allegory.

I don't know if I can spell it out any more than this: exchanging ideas, which is understanding person A's idea and understanding person B's idea, not comparing the two, which is putting the two ideas on a scale and seeing how they relate.

Try to read this time and maybe it would be best for you instead to stop talking like a conservative, old, Asian politician. Your ego complex is showing.
